VOLLEYBALL
Boys and Girls Volleyball Camps, Ages 9 - 15
Great Starts Volleyball Camp will be a fun-filled week of developing volleyball skills, knowledge of the game, and the overall character of each participant. Each individual will be challenged to grow and improve, from the beginner to the more experienced player. The novice player will learn the basic skills of the game including passing, setting, hitting, and serving. They will also be introduced to the general rules of volleyball, and will enjoy learning through fun drills and modified game-play.
But don’t let the name Great Starts fool you we will also work to further develop the more advanced athlete and challenge them to a higher level of volleyball. For example, the athlete that is competent in passing will be presented with a higher level of difficulty in drills and a quicker presentation of the ball. This can progress from a tossed ball to a hard-driven hit or serve. The skill will also be integrated into game-play where all the variables of the game exist and the player must learn to read where the ball is going to be placed by the other team, react, and implement the proper basic form to pass the ball well. Each player will be challenged in each skill by increasing the speed and difficulty level of the drills or game. No matter what level players are at, they will be given opportunity to improve.
Our hope is that our love of the game of volleyball will be contagious, and that each participant will enjoy the game and desire to continue playing. The game of volleyball is played by people of all ages, either at the recreational or competitive level. Great Starts is a great place to learn more of the game of volleyball, a game that will be lots of fun and promote physical fitness for a lifetime.

Michele believes that the key to success in any sport, in addition to fundamentals and hard work, is first developing a passion for it the sport by having fun!
Great Starts T&F Camp participants can expect to have fun learning the fundamentals of track and field in their weeklong camp experience. Each camper will have a chance to share their prior experience and skill level with coaches on the first day and the program will be developed to meet the needs of each young athlete. This will include form analysis by the head coach. Those with prior experience and/or greater skill or fitness level will be given the opportunity to further develop those skills through event specific coaching and instruction. Those with no prior experience, and younger athletes, will be working on basic running, jumping, hurdling and throwing skills.
Though all sessions will include a cardiovascular component, the emphasis in a week long camp will be on correct fundamentals of form and skill development. Instruction will include discussions on how to train, including rest and recovery, nutrition, injury prevention, good sportsmanship, and having fun. All athletes will be encouraged to try the all different events in T & F, rather than specializing in a particular event. The goal is for these young athletes to ENJOY track and field!
